NYU Tandon School of Engineering Seeks Integrated Digital Media Faculty

The Technology, Culture, and Society (TCS) Department at New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering invites outstanding applicants for a full-time tenured or tenure track appointment at open rank within the Integrated Digital Media (IDM) program. We invite applications from candidates who have a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and university service.

The NYU Tandon School of Engineering is a comprehensive school of engineering, applied sciences, technology and research, and is rooted in a 158-year tradition of invention, innovation and entrepreneurship. The faculty and students of Integrated Digital Media (IDM) in the Tandon School of Engineering are at the forefront of research within the Brooklyn Research Triangle and have access to a world-class facility at the NYU Media and Games Network (MAGNET), alongside programs from the Tisch Game Center, Steinhardt Education Technology, the Courant Institute, and the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP), as well as key collaborations with other divisions of NYU.

Applicants in all areas of digital media will be considered, with a preference for research and teaching interests at the intersection of engineering and creative practice, including, but not limited to: assistive technology, digital fabrication, physical and wearable computing, human computer interaction, machine learning and applied media, interactive installation, motion capture or real-time live performance. The candidate should be committed to all levels of teaching, from introductory undergraduates to graduate students.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in his or her field
  • demonstrate the ability to develop and lead high-quality research and to attract external funding
  • demonstrate excellence in teaching and service
  • hybrid academic background (e.g., degrees in engineering and arts) are especially encouraged to apply
  • commitment to all levels of teaching, from introductory undergraduates to graduate students.
