10norrisbruceThe School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Texas invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Visual Arts/Installation. The School offers an interdisciplinary program built on three interrelated areas: Literary Studies, Historical Studies and Aesthetic Studies. The School of Arts and Humanities is dedicated to exploring the intellectual and creative connections among the arts and humanities.

Successful applicants will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in at lease two of these areas: video art, installation art, image/text, photography.

Selection process begins December 1, 2016, and continues until position is filled

Requirements:

  • An MFA or terminal degree
  • university teaching experience
  • an active record of exhibitions are required
  • demonstrate knowledge of critical and theoretical issues in contemporary art
  • Preference will be given to applicants who integrate traditional studio practice with digital technologies.

Expectations:

  • offer four organized undergraduate and/or graduate classes in Visual Art each academic year
  • supervise independent research and graduate students
  • create and exhibit (e.g. in juried exhibitions) art work
  • contribute to the academic life of the university and profession through participation in committees and other forms of service.
