EUGENE, Ore. — The Ecomedia Arts Festival will feature a wide range of artists who reconceptualize media from environmental, ecological, and systems approaches. Utilizing legacy and emerging technologies, techniques and platforms; Ecomedia will stretch the imagination to envision sustainability and the emergence of thrivability. Our communicative environments are mediums that continue to expand with the integration of the arts, sciences, and humanities. Ecomedia reveals our developing contemporary condition in an ecology of inquiry, by investigating materiality, virtuality, hybridity, and more. Themes/topics related to environmental, economic, and social justice are especially encouraged.
The transdisciplinary faculty committee invites proposals for works that address ECOMEDIA through the mediums of text, painting, sculpture, cinema and multimedia, projection mapping, designed environments, site-specific works, scholarly talks, panels, and installations on a wide variety of issues.
This juried arts exhibition/festival will take place at the Erb Memorial Union at the University of Oregon—in collaboration with the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and organized as part of the 44th Annual International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) conference. This conference will bring over 1,000+ global scholars to Eugene, Oregon and focus on the theme of “Reimagining Sustainability: Communication and Media in a Changing World.”
