Coffee & Code Event with Dr. Harald Klinke
How can data and code help us better understand art, culture, and the humanities?
Join UO Libraries Data Services in the Knight Library Data Services space and on Zoom on Friday, May, 30, from 12:00-1:00PM to hear from Dr. Harald Klinke!
Dr. Harald Klinke teaches Digital Art History at LMU Munich and is the founding editor of the International Journal for Digital Art History. His research focuses on the integration of data science tools and methods into the study of culture, art, and history. He holds a PhD in Art History and a Master’s degree in Information Science.
In this talk, Dr. Klinke, joining us via Zoom, introduces the principles of Cultural Data Science and shows how computational methods—especially using R—can support research. Drawing on examples from art history and museum collections, it highlights how data and code can reveal new perspectives on cultural patterns.
This session coincides with the publication of his new book, Cultural Data Science: An Introduction to R. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome—especially those with interests in data science, digital humanities, cultural studies, or interdisciplinary research methods.
Be sure to RSVP, and we’ll see you there!
