Digital Humanities Program Specialist, George Washington University

The Resilient Networks to Support Inclusive Digital Humanities is a Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant funded project which will address the challenge of providing diverse perspectives, shared pedagogical approaches, and partnerships between librarians, students, and scholars to advance digital humanities scholarship between the George Washington University, Davidson College, Rice University, and Prairie View A&M University. This two-year project will establish a network of institutions to share and build expertise in and support for digital humanities instruction and research.

Position Details:

  • manages and actively participates in all aspects of the Resilient Networks to support inclusive Digital Humanities grant across the four institutions
  • organizes all project activities
  • provides day-to-day oversight of the activities at all partner sights
  • plans and manages digital humanities curriculum, training, and participation in digital humanities research projects developed through the course of the grant
  • work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and senior leaders at each institution to review these projects, to develop timelines, milestones, and completion dates
  • oversee the progress to ensure completion, and develops strategies to resolve any issues or obstacles
  • actively contributes to research projects by serving as an active project participant, leveraging their area of expertise within the digital humanities field
  • work with faculty members and students to apply computational techniques to discover new research findings
  • provides coordination, advising, and instruction as needed for students and faculty for the Resilient Networks curriculum and research projects
  • stay current with technology, scholarship, and other issues impacting digital humanities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum:
    • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization
    • 5 years of relevant professional experience
    • requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    • level of expertise within the digital humanities field
    • previous experience working on a major digital humanities project or employment or research work in a digital humanities program or center

The Arts & Literary Arts residency is for composers, fiction and non-fiction writers, playwrights, poets, video/filmmakers, and visual artists who share in The Rockefeller Foundation’s mission of promoting the well-being of humanity around the world and whose work is inspired by or relates to global or social issues. The residency is for artists seeking time for disciplined work, reflection, and collegial engagement with a diverse community of academics, practitioners, and artists.bellaio-center-1-e1427591006478The Bellagio Center typically offers residencies of two to four weeks for no more than 15 residents at a time. Collegial interaction within the community of residents is an integral dimension of the Bellagio experience. To help build connections across one another’s work, residents are also offered opportunities to interact with participants from international conferences that are hosted in other buildings on the Bellagio Center’s grounds.

The Bellagio Center also encourages collaborative residencies for up to three people working on the same project. In particular, team projects that bring residents together from different geographies, institutions, or disciplines are especially sought after to further the Center’s goal of establishing new connections amongst diverse groups of individuals.

The Oregon Legislative Policy and Research Office Seeks Three Second Year Graduate Interns

The Oregon Legislative Policy and Research Office (LPRO), a branch agency of the Oregon Legislature, seeks up to three qualified second-year graduate students to serve as interns during the 2017 legislative session. Intern positions are part of the non-partisan, professional staff of the Legislature, serving both chambers and all political parties. Internships offer a unique opportunity for students to learn about state government, current state policy issues and the legislative process.
